In the Catholic faith, the need for reconciliation is met through prayers that ask the Holy Spirit for awareness of our sins, true sorrow, and the grace to seek God’s mercy. The central prayers used before and during the Sacrament of Reconciliation (Confession) guide the soul back to peace and unity with God.
