Pathways of Faith
Carmelite Spirituality Group
What Is Carmelite Spirituality?
Carmelite spirituality focuses on the particular gifts God has given the Carmelite Order for the good of the Church and the world. The Carmelite way of life centers on living “in allegiance to Jesus Christ”—a commitment to prayer, community, and service.
Purpose of the Group
Our goal is to give participants a solid introduction to the Lay Carmelite vocation, so they can discern whether they may be called to live the Carmelite way of life as a lay person. We also hope to lay the groundwork for an official Lay Carmelite Community in Utah—which requires a group of at least 10 people ready to enter Lay Carmelite formation.
Might This Group Be for You?
- Do you desire to grow in a wholehearted friendship with God?
- Are you searching for deeper spiritual guidance in Christian living?
- Do you have a devotion to the Blessed Mother or a Carmelite saint—St. Thérèse of Lisieux, St. Teresa of Avila, St. John of the Cross, St. Titus Brandsma?
- Do you wear the Brown Scapular of Our Lady of Mount Carmel?
If you answer “yes”—or even “maybe”—to any of these, this group may be just what you’re looking for.
