Patriotic Rosary
PATRIOTIC ROSARY
SAINT GEORGE CATHOLIC CHURCH
Millions of people have prayed the Patriotic Rosary, not knowing where it came from. In 1995, one man was praying a rosary while walking around Independence Hall. The entire Patriotic Rosary was inspired in his heart by Our Lady. How to pray it, how it should lay out, everything was as a single inspiration, from which tens of millions of these rosaries have been prayed in every parish church in America, and on every U.S. Military Base Around the World.
The Patriotic Rosary is a special Catholic prayer devotion focused on asking for God’s protection, mercy, and guidance for the United States of America. It involves reciting the traditional rosary, with each Hail Mary dedicated to a specific state and prayers for government leaders, typically accompanied by patriotic songs and readings from American founding fathers.
Key Aspects of the Patriotic Rosary
- Purpose: It is designed to pray for the moral conversion of the U.S., the sanctity of life, family, and freedom.
- Structure: It often includes Joyful, Luminous, Sorrowful, or Glorious mysteries. Each Hail Mary is dedicated to one of the fifty states, while “Our Father” prayers are offered for leaders such as the President, Congress, and Supreme Court
- Origins: The devotion was inspired by a prayer experience at Independence Hall in Philadelphia in 1995 and is strongly linked to the Caritas Community.
- Usage: It is frequently prayed during July, around election times, or at special events like Eucharistic Rosary Congresses.
Common Components
- Prayers for Leadership: Specific, dedicated prayers for the President, Congress, Supreme Court, and local officials.
- Patriotic Hymns: Songs such as “America the Beautiful” are often sung between decades.
- Founding Fathers’ Readings: Quotes from figures like George Washington or other leaders highlighting God’s role in the nation’s history are often included.
This prayer is popular as a method to seek divine assistance during difficult times for the nation, emphasizing peace and unity.
This ministry was implemented in 2022. The Patriotic Rosary is held every first and third Tuesday of the month after the 8 am Mass.
