STEWARDSHIP: Gratitude in Action - Our Way of Life
Saint George Catholic Women’s Group (SGCWG) is dedicated to providing spiritual and social support for each other and all members of our parish and community. Our numerous activities include spiritual retreats and presentations, monthly meetings and luncheons, a Christmas toy drive for the San Pablo Mission in Beryl Junction, annual “Diaper Drive” for the Hope Pregnancy Care Center, annual Palm Sunday Bake Sale, and a Food4Kids drive for needy children in our local schools. We also provide receptions following funerals and other parish events. Our Sunshine and Hospitality Committee makes monthly visits to parishioners in local hospitals, nursing homes, rehab centers and the veterans’ home in Ivins, and provides prayer shawls and other items of support and sympathy for the sick and bereaved.
Engagement in the greater community of Catholic women throughout Southwestern Utah, the Diocese of Salt Lake City, and the entire nation is a great source of inspiration and strength. SGCWG is part of the Southwestern Deanery of the Diocese of Salt Lake City Council of Catholic Women (DCCW). Besides our own activities, we participate in spiritual retreats and other activities sponsored by the Southwestern Deanery, giving us an opportunity to interact with Catholic women from Christ the King Church in Cedar City, Saint Christopher’s Church in Kanab, and Saint Paul’s Catholic Center in Hurricane. Every April, we attend the statewide DCCW Convention in Salt Lake City and organize the selection of Saint George’s Catholic Woman of the Year, who represents our parish at the Convention. The National Council of Catholic Women (NCCW) is an association of Catholic women from every diocese of the United States. Our members are invited to fill leadership roles in the Deanery, diocesan and national councils.
Saint George Catholic Women’s Group meets in Kuzy Hall at 6:30 PM on the first Tuesday of the month, except in July and August when there are no meetings. Please join us there, or at the monthly luncheons as announced in the Parish Bulletin.
